Albuquerque is the largest city in New Mexico, and has a very diverse ethnic mix which is reflected in the local architecture, museums, artwork, and food. Albuquerque is also at the epicenter of New Mexico’s renowned technological region which was known for nuclear testing in the 1940s. Microsoft was also headquartered in Albuquerque in the 1970s by Bill Gates. Today the city is full of a vibrant history, exciting nightlife and entertainment scene, and a wide array of outdoor activities including the annual Balloon Fiesta with more than 1,000 hot air balloons dotting the skyline.
