Vietnam Hotel Guide & Local Info
Over the last several decades, Vietnam has been establishing itself as a popular travel destination. With the help of television shows like Anthony Bourdain’s ‘No Reservations’ and many of the other travel network shows, the cuisine of Vietnam has peaked the interest of culinary enthusiasts everywhere. Vietnam has much more to offer than just food though, the country has a long history, diverse culture, and plenty of attractions to see in and around the main cities.
The capitol of Vietnam is Hanoi, and the country is officially known as the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. The country of Vietnam is the easternmost country on the Indochina Peninsula in Southeast Asia, and China borders it to the north, Laos and Cambodia to the west. In 1975, the United States closed its Embassy and evacuated all Embassy personnel which officially became the end of the Vietnam “War” Conflict. Since the end of the war the city has truly re-invented itself and relaxed many travel restrictions for western countries. Vietnam is now one of the most popular travel destinations for western tourists, as far as Asian countries it is only followed in popularity by China, Thailand, and Japan.
